Membership Procedure:
Individuals who are interested in becoming a clubhouse member can stop by the Clubhouse Monday through Friday 9:30am to 3:00pm for a tour of the program. A referral form and membership application needs to be completed and returned to the Director with paperwork that documents a history of mental illness. Once received, the Director will call the interested person to schedule an intake interview.

Program History:
Stepping Stones Clubhouse, working under the auspices of Human Services, Inc. opened its doors in January of 2000. We are located in the heart of Chester County on the outskirts of Coatesville. We are very proud to say that some of our founding members are still active at Stepping Stones to this day!

Clubhouse Community:
Our hours of operation are Monday- Friday from 8:00-4:00 with monthly evening and weekend activities scheduled.

Stepping Stones has the Hospitality and Business Unit that encompasses the whole house.  We continue to strive to uphold Clubhouse International standards and believe strongly in the philosophy of having both members and staff being needed, wanted and expected.

Responsibilities of the Hospitality part include receptionist tasks, member reachout menu planning, meal preparation, shopping, planting/harvesting the vegetable garden and production, creation of brochures and cards, and thrift store maintenance. The Unit also maintains the daily operation of the snack room: using the cash register, money handling, stocking shelves and inventory control. The Business section includes typing, records & statistics, attendance, computer/internet skills, distribution of the quarterly newsletter, and tracking education, employment, and volunteer opportunities.

Our clubhouse has worked hard to make sure that members can be involved in every aspect of the house.  We strongly believe in building relationships while making sure that the other work of the clubhouse gets done.

Employment & Education Services

Transitional Employment Program: locates and develops temporary (6-9 months) entry level positions in the community for members to experience part time employment and to develop skills and confidence. Other employment services include skill teaching, resume writing, interview skills and assistance with Social Security work incentives.

Education: includes tutoring in basic reading and math skills, budgeting, health topics, interpersonal skills, problem solving, assistance in continuing education & GED programs and study skills.  We currently have one tutor who comes twice a week, a wellness nurse who comes to the Clubhouse weekly, and numerous guest speakers in the areas listed above.

Directions: We are located on Business Route 30 at the East end of Coatesville, PA.
